Bio

Jesse Lee Meyers was born 23 July 1880 in Pond Spring, Walker County, Georgia, USA. He was 8th of the twelve children born to Andrew Jackson Meyers (1843-1908) and Caroline Sophrona [Phillips] Meyers (1848-1903). Siblings: Henry James Meyers (1866-1904), Louisa Hazeltine [Meyers] Burk (1868-1926), William E. Meyers (1870-1887), Juliet Ada [Meyers] Poole (1873-1910), Ottis Clinton Meyers (1875-1928), Virginia Meyers (1876-1878), Lorenzo Madison Meyers (1878-1937), Nora Mary [Meyers] Walden (1882-1965), George P. Meyers (1884-1947), Freddie Meyers (1886-1887), and Homer Meyers (1889-1911). He grew up on the family farm near Lookout Mountain on the Georgia/Tennesse border. He was married to Beulah Pryor (1887-1915) on the 8th of November 1903 in Walker County, Georgia. Children: Ida Lee Meyers (1904-1906), Judson Henry Meyers ((1906-1979), Gladys Celeste Meyers (1908-?), DeForrest Meyers (1911-1931) and Gertrude M. [Meyers] Randle (1913-2001). Beulah died in 1915, leaving him a young widower. He later married Hannah LeCroy (1897-1988). Children: Infant Son Meyers (1917–1917), Thomas Cecil Myers (1919–1995) and Infant Daughter Meyers (1923-1923). Jesse was 42 years old when he was killed in an explosion on 14 February 1923 in Trenton, Dade, Georgia. He was laid to rest in the Coulter Memorial Cemetery in Cassandra, Walker.
