Bio
Andrew Jackson Meyers was born 1 August 1843 in Canton, Ohio. During the Civil War, he served with the Union Forces in Company H of the 107th Ohio Infantry taking his discharge in Bradley County, Tennessee where he started teaching school. It was here that he met his future wife Caroline Saphrona Phillips and they were married on 9 November 1865 in Bradley County, Tennessee. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Walker County, Georgia along with Caroline's parents. They were the parents of 12 children: Henry James Meyers (1866-1904), Louisa Hazeltine Meyers (1868-1926), William E. Meyers (1870-1887), Juliet Ada Meyers [Poole](1873-1910), Ottis C. Meyers (1875-1928), Virginia Meyers (1876-1878), Lorenzo Madison Meyers (1878-1937), Jesse Lee Meyers (1880-1923), Nora Meyers [Walden] (1882-1965), George Meyers (1884-1947) Freddie Meyers (1886-1887), and Homer Meyers (1889-1911). He taught school in Walker County and later purchased a farm at the foot of Lookout Mountain. He died 30 March 1908 in Cassandra, Walker, Georgia and was buried beside his wife in the Coulter Memorial Cemetery, Cassandra, Walker County, Georgia.
