Bio
In 1878, George Reisch was married to Miss Mary Spitly, who was born in Lincoln, Illinois, a daughter of Martin Spitly, who for many years was proprietor of the Spitly House of Lincoln. Ten children, six sons and four daughters, were born of this marriage. Posted by original memorial creator. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mrs. Mary Spitly Reisch , 83, of 1504 Lowell avenue, widow of George Reisch, sr., president of the Reisch Brewing Co., died at 5:15 a.m. yesterday at St. John's hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Reisch, a resident of Springfield for more than sixty years, entered the hospital Friday as a medical patient. She was known for her charity activities in Springfield for many years. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament church and the Altar and Rosary society of the church. Mrs. Reisch was born Feb. 14, 1859 at Mt. Pulaski and was married on Oct. 10, 1878. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Minnie R. Franz, Mrs. Henry Aschauer, Mrs. Emil Bernard and Mrs. William A. Meyer; four sons, George, Karl, Edward and Walter Reisch; thirty-six grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Three other children preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the Staab funeral home with a solemn requiem mass was held at Blessed Sacrament church. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
