Bio
Edward was born in McLennan County, Texas, probably on the rented family farm near the small town of Leroy where the family was enumerated on 20 April 1910 just a little over a year before he was born. By the 1920 census, Edward and his family had moved a few miles north to Hill County where they were living on a family owned farm. The family had grown to eight children, one daughter-in-law and his maternal grandmother. In 1929 both parents died and in 1930 Edward was living with his brother John and his family on a farm in Hill County, where he was working as a farm laborer. By 1940 Eddie was in the nearby city of Waco working as a gasoline station attendant. He was was still there in 1942 when he completed his WWII Registration card, working at Kendrick's Tire and Auto Care Center at 5th and Franklin Streets. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 1 Aug 1941 and was discharged on 10 May 1947, having attained the rank of Sgt. Sometime before 1950 he married because on 5 April 1950 he was enumerated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with wife Nora J. and her grandfather 79 year old James Cornwall who was also in his household. Eddie was working as a gas station attendant again. His wife Nora was a stenographer in a law office.
