Funeral services for Joseph A. Shipley, 87, were conducted this afternoon at the L.R. Rice Mortuary in Maywood. He lived at 5910 S. Los Angeles Street and was until recently a resident of American For, Utah where the body will be removed for burial. Survivors include three sons, Joseph R., Warren A, and Clarence L Shipley. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Erma Boll, and Mrs. Naomia Brown; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Joseph Shipley - Shipley Rites Funeral services were held for Joseph A. Shipley, 87, 5910 South Los Angeles Street, with remains being shipped to American Fork, Utah, for burial. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fanny Shipley; sister, Mrs. Grace Patterson, of Portland; sons, Joseph R. Shipley, of Los Angeles; Warren H. Shipley of Torrance, and Clarence L. Shipley of Idaho; daughters, Mrs. Erma Boll, Huntington Park, and Mrs. H.F. Brown, (Naomi), of Los Angeles; 16 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Tuesday, April 27, 1948 Joseph A. Shipley Joseph A. Shipley, former resident of Salt Lake City and American Fork, died Saturday in Los Angeles of causes incident to age. Mr. Shipley operated a shoe repair shop in Salt Lake City for many years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Fannie Hill Shipley; five sons and daughters. Warren and Raymond Shipley and Mrs. Naomi Brown, Los Angeles; Mrs Erma Boll, Huntington Park, California, and Clarence Shipley, Idaho; a sister, Mrs Grace Patterson, Portland, Oregon and several grandchildren. Friends may call at the Anderson Mortuary in American Fork Wednesday moring. Funeral time will be announced later. Jos. Shipley Brought Here For Burial Funeral services for Joseph A. Shipley, 87, native of American Fork, will be held in the Anderson and Sons mortuary Friday, April 30, at 2p.m. with J. Stanley Peters, bishop of the Second ward officiating. Mr. Shipley died April 24 at his home in Los Angeles of causes incident to age. The son of Joseph and Elizabeth Anderton Shipley, he was born in American Fork Feb. 15, 1861. For many years he ran a shoe repair shop here before he moved to Salt Lake City where he continued in the same business. He moved to Los Angeles three years ago. He married Fanny Hill who survives but is unable to make the trip to Utah. Other survivors are three sons and two daughters, Clarence Shipley, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Warren Shipley, Torrence, California; Ray Shipley, Los Angeles; Mrs Frank (Naomi) Brown and Mrs. J.S. (Erma) Boll, both of Los Angeles. Friends Pay Final Tribute To Joseph Shipley Funeral services for Joseph Shipley, 87, native of American Fork, were conducted Friday at 2p.m. in the Anderson and Sons Mortuary by Joseph H. Storrs, bishop of the Second ward when Mr. Shipley lived in American Fork. He died April 24 at his home in Los Angeles of causes incident to age. Richard Hill, Salt Lake City, a brother-in-law, delivered an impressive address on the Latter-day Saint conception of the resurrectin and life hereafter. Bishop Storrs told of his acquaintance with the family and his association with them as a bishop. Music included vocal solos, "Face to Face" by Moral D. Steele, and "Going Home" by Ray Shelley, and a violin solo by Milton Brown. Mrs. Owen G. Humphries was accompanist. The invocation was offered by Leonard S. Harrington, Albert Rowley a nephew, pronounced the benediction, and the grave in the American For cemetery was dedicated by Earl Shipley, Salt Lake City, another nephew.
