Bio
Margaret's "father," Joseph Shipley, Id 26233085 is not actually her biological father. He married her mother Elizabeth Anderton Id 26236192 in 1854 when Margaret was six years old. Indeed, it is impossible for him to be Margaret's biological father because he had traveled to America in 1845 (from Liverpool on the ship "Oregon") with his wife Elizabeth Garley and child Nephi, and remained there the rest of his life. Margaret, meanwhile, was born in 1848 in England and traveled to America in 1853 with her mother on the ship "Elvira Owen." Joseph Shipley's family had passed from illness by then so once Elizabeth Anderton arrived they met and married in 1854 when Margaret was 6 years old. So Shipley cannot be her biological father. He is the man who raised her, of course, and at 6 years old going by her mother's last name she probably knew no other father--but it is not possible for him to be her biological father according to the records available.
