Bio

Thomas Shipley, 72, 665 West First North Street, died at a Salt Lake hospital Sunday at 5:55 a.m. of pneumonia. Mr. Shipley was born 19 Sep 1870 at American Fork, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Anderton Shipley. He had been a resident of Salt Lake City for 30 years. Prior to his death, he was a member of the high priests quorum of the Sixteenth LDS ward. His father was one of the original Mormon battalion which came to Utah. Surviving are two sons, William C. and Earl F. Shipley of Salt Lake City; a daughter, Mrs. Vera S. Bult of Salt Lake City; a brother Joseph Shipley of Salt Lake City; a sister, Mrs Grace Patterson of Portland, OR, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. in the Sixteenth LDS ward, 131 North Fifth West Street, by L. DeVon Mecham, bishop. Friends may call at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. Vera S. Bult, 6618 West First North Street, Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Burial will be in Salt Lake City cemetery. Thomas married Eliza Ann on 17 Apr 1891 at Provo, Utah, Utah.
