Hays -- Regina Leiker, 86, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Hays Good Samaritan Center. She was born Nov. 26, 1917, on a farm near Victoria to Jerome and Philomena (Pfannenstiel) Herl. She married Alfred J. Leiker on Aug. 30, 1937, in Munjor. He died May 16, 2001. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Altar Society Christian Mothers, both of Hays. Survivors include three sons, Verland Leiker, Victoria, Allen J. Leiker and his wife, Maggie, Hays, and Ronald Leiker and his wife, Kelly, Alpharetta, Ga.; three daughters, Mary Jane White, Thornton, Colo., Gloria Braun and her husband, Ron, Victoria, and Linda Schoenthaler, Ellis; three sisters, Armella Wittman and Alice Kreutzer, both of Hays, and Marietta Herl, Victoria; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Timberlyn Kaumans, three brothers, Celestine Herl, Eddie Herl and Alvin Herl, and two sisters, Irene VonFeldt and Leona Geist. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. There will be an Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m., a family scripture rosary at 5:30 p.m., a Victoria Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Monday, at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Building Fund or the Hays Good Samaritan Center Alzheimer's Unit. Hays Daily News, 6/27/2004
