Hutchinson -- A former Ellis County resident, Celestine Herl, 64, died Thursday, April 23 at Hutchinson. He was born July 16, 1916 in Ellis County. He was married to Edna Kern May 8, 1949 at Munjor. He was a retired insurance representative and a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Survivors include his wife, Edna, of the home; a daughter, Donetta Higgins, Hutchinson; a brother Alvin, Ogallah; six sisters, Irene VonFeldt, Victoria, and Regina Leiker, Armella Wittman, Alice Kreutzer, Leona Geist and Marietta Herl, all of Hays; six grandchildren. Services were at 10:00 a.m. Monday April, 27, 1981 at Holy Cross Church, Pfeifer. Burial was in the church cemetery. Ellis County Star, 4/30/1981
