Anna's birth is recorded in Carroll County Book 2, page 143. Their marriage in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, May 25, 1916. A double wedding took place Wednesday in the home of John Patterson, Perry Twp., when Mr. Patterson's son and daughter took unto them selves a bride and groom, respectively. Murray Patterson was united in marriage to Miss Mary Lattimer, of New Philadelphia, but a native of Orange Twp. Ray Umpleby was married to Miss Mary Patterson. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. C. Slater, Bowerston. Members of the family and the immediate friends of the young folks were the only guests in attendance. Her obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, August 21, 1969. Mrs. Anna E. Umpleby, 78, of Perrysville (Rt. 3, Carrollton) died Sunday in Mercy Hospital following an illness of two weeks. Born May 1, 1891, in Perry Twp., she was a daughter of the late John and Adda (Amos) Patterson and was a life resident of the vicinity. Mrs. Umpleby was a member of Perrysville United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher most of her lifetime. She also was a member of the WSCS of the church, Lamartine WCTU and the Friendly Neighbor Club. She was married May 24, 1916, to Ray Umpleby, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Leota) Haugh of Rt. 3, Carrollton, Mrs. William (Louise) Davenport of North Canton and Mrs. Keith (Virginia) Johnston of near Perrysville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters are deceased. Services were Wednesday in Perrysville United Methodist Church with Rev. R. E. Swinehart officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
