John's birth is recorded in Carroll County Book 3, page 417. This was recorded in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, May 25, 1916. A double wedding took place Wednesday in the home of John Patterson, Perry Twp., when Mr. Patterson's son and daughter took unto them selves a bride and groom, respectively. Murray Patterson was united in marriage to Miss Mary Lattimer, of New Philadelphia, but a native of Orange Twp. Ray Umpleby was married to Miss Mary Patterson. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. C. Slater, Bowerston. Members of the family and the immediate friends of the young folks were the only guests in attendance. His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, September 18, 1858. Murray John Patterson, 63, of 583 North High Street, Carrollton, died Sunday midnight in his home after being ill three years. He was born July 9, 1895, in Perry Township, the son of the late John and Addie (Amos) Patterson, and was a life resident of Carroll county. Mr. Patterson was a machinist at Diebold, Inc. in Canton for 14 years, having retired in 1955 due to ill health. He was a member of United Brethren Church of Perrysville and was a trustee of the church many years. Mr. Patterson was married to the former Mary Elizabeth Latimer May 24, 1916. Surviving are his widow; three sons, Ralph, a professor of agricultural engineering at Pennsylvania State College, Ray of Carrollton and Robert of Cheshire, Conn.; one brother, Albert of Scio; two sisters, Mrs. ray Umpleby of Perrysville and Mrs. Bessie Logan of Rt. 1, Bowerston, and 10 grandchildren. One brother and a sister preceded him in death. Services were this Wednesday at the Allmon Funeral Home here with burial in Westview Cemetery, Carrollton. The Rev. Henry A. Sedlacek officiated.
