Obituary. Kerrville Mountain Sun, Kerrville, TX. June 2, 1922 Pioneer Citizen Dies. Last Saturday, at his home in the Sunset Community, Kerr County, W.W. Wells, age 83, died after a few weeks illness. Burial took place Sunday in Sunset Cemetery, attended by a concourse of relatives and friends. Mr. Wells was one of the last of the Texas Rangers, and he also fought through the Civil War. Grandpa Peterson of Kerrville served with him through that memorable war and can relate many interesting incidents of their association. The wife of deceased died about two years ago, and there are left four sons and three daughters. There are many friends who extend condolence to them Truly, a great and grand pioneer has passed away. When William Woodson Wells was born on 17 June 1840, in Marion, Perry, Alabama, United States, his father, Walker Thomas Brockman Wells, was 24 and his mother, Sarah Watters Wright, was 24. He married Martha Elizabeth Tumlinson on 2 January 1867, in DeWitt, Texas, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Kerr, Texas, United States in 1900 and Justice Precinct 4, Kerr, Texas, United States for about 10 years. He died on 27 May 1922, in Kerrville, Kerr, Texas, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Sunset Cemetery, Mountain Home, Kerr, Texas, United States. Source family Search
