Obit-Gonzales Inquirer Jan. 14, 1909 Mrs. Mary A. Dees, for many years a resident of Gonzales County, died in San Antonio Thursday after a brief illness. The remains were brought in on the G. H. & S. A. Train Friday afternoon and from this city will be carried to the Coe burying ground near Monthalia, where the interment will be made tomorrow morning. The decedent was well known and highly esteemed and for a number of years has been residing near Oak Forest, the Dees home being two miles northeast of that place. Several weeks ago she left for San Antonio on a visit to a niece, and it was there several days ago that she was taken ill. The news of her demise has caused universal sorrow among her wide circle by her husband, M. A. Dees, and eight children, viz: Mrs. B. Smith, Dewville; Mrs. Myrtle Hanks, Slayden; and Misses Lena and Lizzie Dees, Oak Forest; Messers. Jake, Calhoun and James Dees of Gonzales County, and Edgar Dees of Batson. J. B. Wells of this city, brother of decedent, accompanied the remains from a San Antonio.
