Bio

The Odessa American (Odessa, Texas) July 3, 1971 ALPINE (Special) -- Mrs. Rachel Maddox, 95, died early Friday morning at Brewster Memorial Hospital in Alpine after a long illness. Services for Mrs. Maddox will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Alpine at Geeslin Funeral Home Chapel. She will then be moved to Eldorado, where she will lie in state at Ratliff-Kerbow Funeral Home from Sunday until graveside services Monday at Eldorado Cemetery. She was born Rachel Ann Wells, July 4, 1875, in DeWitt County. She moved with her family to Kerr County in 1883 and,m in 1903, she married Dave Maddox. They lived in Central Texas until 1928 and moved to Schliecher County until 1938, and then moved to Alpine. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Louis Whitley of Medera, Calif. and Mrs. Eleanor Jeffrey of Eldorado; four sons, William Maddox of DeSoto, Mo., Odis Maddox of Odessa, Sam Maddox of Van Horn, and Claude Maddox of Marathon; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
