Husband of Mattie Pearl Knox. Married 11 Oct. 1911, Menard, Menard Co. TX. Obituary. Kerrville Mountain Sun, Dec. 2, 1964 Rites Friday for Rufus LeRoy Wells, 80. Rev. V.H. Liles of the Sunset Baptist Church officiated at the rites for Rufus LeRoy Wells, 80, which were held Fri. afternoon at the Plummer-Smith chapel and interment was in the Sunset Cemetery. His death occured Wed. in a McAllen hospital. A native of Gillespie Co. he had spent most of his life in Kerr Co. and had been a ranchman in the Sunset Community until his retirement, and was still active in building fences and doing repair work for several years. He was married to Miss Pearl Knox of Knoxville in 1911, and they observed their golden wedding anniversary a few years ago. He had gone to Mission to be with his daughter, Mrs. A.R. Happe of the Rio Grande Valley when he became ill. His survivors include his wife, one daughter, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Rachel Maddox of Alpine.
