EMERY V. MAZANEC A funeral for Emery Victor Mazanec, 80 of Gering, who died September 8,1991 at his home, was held Wednesday, September 11, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. in Grace Chapel at Scottsbluff with Pastor Rich Peterson officiating Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. He was born September 4, 1911 at Chapman to Edward and Mary (Pekarek) Mazanec. He grew up and received his education in Merrick County, until age 16, when he moved with his family to Dawes County and later to Sioux County in 1945. He married Ardeyne Doreen Amende June 17, 1946 at North Platte. He owned and operated farms and ranches all of his life until retiring in 1987 when he moved to Gering. He was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge at Hemingford, the Hemingford Gun Club, the District 12 School Board in Sioux County, and the Sioux County ASCS Board. Survivors include his wife Ardeyne of Gering, sons Greg of Sioux County, Marvin of Marsland and Howard of Sioux County, daughters Cindy Pestotnick of Gering and Pam Zitterkopf of Scottsbluff, brother Arnold of Hemingford, sisters Dorothy Lehl and Genevieve Jones, both of Hemingford, and five granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, three brothers and one sister. From the Index, Mitchell, Nebraska, Wednesday, September 18th, 1991
