GEORGE J. MAZANEC George J. Mazanec, 74, of 1220 Mississippi, died Friday, December 28, 1990 at Box Butte General Hospital. He was born April 6, 1916 in Archer, Nebrska to Edward and Mary (Pekarek) Mazanec. He married Mildred E. Osborn May 23, 1951 in Alliance. He is survived by his wife, four sons, Bob Duncan of Hemingford, Donald Duncan of North Platte, Gary Duncan of Denver, and Roger Mazanec of Alliance, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Lehl of Hemingford and Genevieve Jones of Hemingford and two brothers Anrold of Hemingford and Emery of Gering. He was a farmer in Dawes County for 31 years before moving to Alliance in 1982. Mazanec was a member of the American Legion. He served in the U. S. Army and is a veteran of World War Il from 1942-1945. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 2, 1990 at 10 a.m. in Bates-Landa Chapel with Rev. Sam Reed officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alliance Volunteer Rescue Unit or donor's choice.
