ERNEST MAZANEC, 68, OF HEMINGFORD DIES Ernest Mazanec, 68, of Hemingford, died early Thursday morning at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. His death apparently followed a heart attack. Mr. Mazanec was born September 19, 1907 in Butler County and had farmed and ranched in Dawes and Box Butte County since 1928. He moved to Hemingford in 1968 and had lived for a short time at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. He was a veteran of World War II and the U.S. Army and had never married. Survivors include three brothers, Emory and Arnold, both of Hemingford and George of Marsland and two sisters, Genevieve Jones and Mrs. Elmer (Dorothy) Lehl, also both of Hemingford and by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Bates-Landa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron.
