Bio

Mary Ann Schmoll, age 86, of Olivia died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. Dennis Labat as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mary Ann Schmoll was born August 21, 1931 in Olivia, MN, to John E. and Mary Barbara (Hosek) Serbus. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Mary Ann married Steve Schmoll on June 18, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn. Mary Ann was a farm wife and mother to their seven children. She was a faithful and active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the CCW, and also was a 4-H Leader for many years. Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning food, doing embroidery, baking kolaches and cookies, listening to old time music, and playing the harmonica. Mary Ann is survived by her seven children: Diane Sing of Willmar, Tony (and Connie) Schmoll of Willmar, Douglas Schmoll of Willmar, Bernie Schmoll of Bird Island, Pat (and Janelle) Schmoll of Lake Lillian, Cindy (and Dan) Nienaber of Albany, and Lori (and Dalen) Hodge of Baxter; her seventeen grandchildren; her 19 great-grandchildren; her brothers: Joe (and Gloria) Serbus of Milaca and Francis (and Pat) Serbus of Danube; and her sister Veronica (and Don) Frank of Redwood Falls. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Steve in 2005; her brothers: Harry, Johnny, Gilbert, and Clarence Serbus; and her sisters: infant Barbara Jane Serbus and Millie Hagen.
