Gilbert Benjamin Serbus was born on 27 February 1945 to Mary (Hosek) and John Edward Serbus, Sr., in Flora Township, Renville County, Minnesota. Gilbert attended school in Danube. Gilbert Serbus died from lockjaw on 02 September 1954 at a hospital in Granite Falls, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Gilbert was survived by his parents, Mary Hosek and John Edward Serbus, Sr.; brothers, Joseph, Francis, John, Jr., Harry, and Clarence; and sisters, Mary Ann, Mildred, and Veronica. A sister, Barbara Jane, preceded him in death. The funeral service for Gilbert was held on Saturday, 04 September 1954, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn; the Reverence Robert Bastyr officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota.
