Bio
Clarence William “Buckwheat” Serbus was born on 03 April 1946 to Mary (Hosek) and John Edward Serbus, Sr., in Flora Township, Renville County, Minnesota. Clarence attended Danube High School. On 14 July 1979 he married June Ann Ehlers in St. Cloud, Stearns County, Minnesota. They lived in Verndale, Minnesota, where Clarence was a truck driver. Clarence William Serbus, of Verndale, died from a heart attack at the age of 38, on 20 July 1984, in Bismark, Burleigh County, North Dakota. Clarence was survived by his wife, June; father, John E., Sr., of Renville; two brothers Joseph of Foreston and Francis of Danube; three sisters, Mary Ann (Steve) Schmoll of Bird Island, Mildred (Robert) Hagen of Bird Island, and Veronica (Donald) Frank of Renville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; brothers, John Edward, Jr., Harold Daniel “Harry,” and Gilbert Benjamin, and a sister, Barbara Jane. The funeral service for Clarence was held on 23 June 1984, at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville; the Reverend Paul Schumacher officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota. Pall bearers were Tony Hirman, Lloyd Serbus, Pat Schmoll, Tom Hagen, Wallace Serbus, and Duane Frank.
