Fort Bend Herald, November 8, 2017: Celestine Victoria Kucera 90, of East Bernard, Texas, was called to be with Jesus on November 6, 2017. She was born on June 15, 1927, in Olivia, Minnesota, to Albert and Mary Hlavinka Rejsek. Celestine attended Muldoon School during her elementary years and finished her education at East Bernard High School. She married the love of her life, Peter Joseph Kucera, on November 29, 1944. During their 44 wonderful years of marriage they built the home of their dreams and filled it with love, laughter and the smell of baking kolaches, from her huge kitchen. Celestine’s vegetable garden fed her family and her chickens provided the eggs to trade for some groceries at Keperta Brothers Grocery Store. She always made sure her seven children had clean pressed clothes to wear to school along with all they needed to be successful. Celestine was a loving attentive daughter and wife who helped care for her two parents, her husband’s mother, and her husband until the end of their lives. As a devout Catholic, Celestine attended church every Sunday with her family and somehow found the time to become an active member of the KJZT, the Catholic Daughters, and the Altar Society. After all of children were in school, Celestine started working for Texas Instruments in 1970 on the graveyard shift until she retired in 1992. Above all, Celestine enjoyed cooking loads of food like her famous dressing, chicken noodle soup and chicken salad sandwiches for her family gatherings, making decorative wreaths as gifts, going to garage sales for the occasional bargain, propagating plants for her garden, and visiting with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends. During the last year of her life, Celestine resided in Eagle Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers--their kindness and attention to all her needs while she was in their care was exceptional and greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to Dr. Larry Penick for all of the hours he spent giving her not only medical attention but also his friendship. Celestine was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mary Rejsek, her husband Peter Joseph Kucera, daughter Evelyn Marie Kucera, siblings: Jim Rejsek, Mary Surbus, Frank Rejsek, Stella Kucera, Joe Rejsek and Stanley Rejsek. Celestine is survived by her youngest sister and treasured helper, Agnes Litvik. Celestine is survived by her children Pete Kucera (Beth), Tom Kucera, Victor Kucera (Kathy), Jerome Kucera, Theresa Kettler (Kenneth), and Mary Ann Wade (Zan). Celestine has eight grandchildren Joe Kucera (Gina), Mary Frances Kucera, Kaye Kucera, Jeff Kettler (Lana), Judy Early (Brook), Evelyn Mamerow (Donald, Bubba), Zan Wade (Brianna) Annie Taylor (Shawn). Great grandchildren are: Meghan Kucera, Wyatt Kettler, Bryce Early, Trey Mamerow, Avery Mamerow, Rose Taylor, Damon Taylor, Devin Taylor, Dillion Taylor and Derek Wade.
