Daughter of William Christopher & Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Fay) Goodwin Married to John P. "Jack" Murphy Mrs. Agnes Murphy Succumbs; Rites To Be held Thursday. Mrs. Agnes E. Murphy a resident of Grand Island for more than 56 years died last night at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kaufman, 821 West Charles. She had been seriously ill the last three months. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 in St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Mrs. Murphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Goodwin was born at Montpelier, Vt. on Jan. 8, 1864. In 1872 the family moved to Howard County. She and John P. Murphy were married here on Dec 26, 1893. Several children were born to them. Mr. Murphy, a retired Union Pacific employee, died on July 4, 1935. During the last few years Mrs. Murphy has made her home with the Kaufmans and with another son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Marsh. Survivors include five daughters; Mrs. Marsh, Mrs Kaufman and Mrs. R.E. Jones, all of Grand Island, Sister M. Florentia, Chicago, Ill. and Mrs. O.B. Thompson, Kearney, two sons; John F. Murphy and W.E. Murphy both of Grand Island, one brother; J.M. Goodwin, Cairo; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six brothers and five sisters. The rosary will be recited in the Livingston-Sondermann funeral home at 8:30 Wednesday evening. Friends may call from 7 to 9 o'clock that evening. The family requests that flowers be omitted. GRAND ISLAND INDEPENDENT March 7, 1950
