Gravesite details
This is a shared gravestone for mother and youngest son, William Lake, who died in Jan of the same year, William Lake died in El Paso. He was born only a few days before his dad, Sterling Lake died of an accidental gun accident.
Bio
In the photos at right are Mary Frances Shrader Tarpley in about 1890 with her youngest sons, William 'Lake' and Carl 'Lee.' (Lee is buried in Albuquerque, NM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.) The other photo (about 1901) is Mary Frances with her two older sons, 'Sterling' Francis (standing) and Henry 'Clay' seated with his mother. Sterling is buried in Waco, and Clay is buried in Vaughn, NM. For a full list of her children's burials, see the description in the memorial for Sterling Lake Tarpley.
Inscription
On the West side of the stone is "TARPLEY." On the East side , on the left is "Mother" on top row, under that is "Mary Frances." Under that are the dates "1859 -1917." On the right side, top row is "Son;" then "William Lake;" then 1886-1917
