Mrs. Louisa Hofbauer, who would have been 69 years old on the 30th of this month, succumbed to a three week illness Sunday morning in a Sherman hospital. The body was brought to Muenster Monday and lay in state at the home of her son, Andrew, until funeral services. On Monday and Tuesday evenings rosary was recited. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in Sacred Heart Church and burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery . Pallbearers were Joe Swirczynski, Al Kleiss, Frank Bayer, Alois Wiesman, William Hellman, and John Fisher. Louisa Wanke was born in Austria on August 30, 1874, and came to the United States with her parents, John and Rosalia Wanke, at the age of six, and settled with them in South Texas and later moved to Tours and it was in this city that she met and married Joseph Hofbauer on September 12, 1899. They resided there until 1911 when they moved to Muenster to make their home south of the city on a farm. Mr. Hofbauer died in December of 1932. Louisa lived with her son, Clem and family, until a year ago when she moved into town to occupy her own apartment. She was able to do her own housework until three weeks ago when she became ill. Friday when her condition became worse, she was taken to a Sherman hospital. Saturday morning she suffered a stroke from which she did not regain consciousness. Survivors are four sons, Joe of Dallas, Clem and Andy of Muenster and John of Hereford and one daughter Sr. Frances Hofbauer of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was a devout church member, taking active part in parish activity and both she and her husband were active in civic enterprises as long as their health permitted. She was a member of the parish mothers' society and of the local mission circle.
