Bio

Edward Henry “Ed” Serbus, the youngest child of Frank and Mary Zetah Serbus, was born on 03 February 1907, on the family farm in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. He attended School District #12 in Henryville Township. Edward married Stella Annastasia Horejsi, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Macholda Horejsi, on 12 May 1936, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota. They made their home on Stella’s parent’s farm and lived there for 57 years. Ed loved gardening, playing cards, and visiting with his family. Ed and Stella had one daughter. Edward Henry “Ed” Serbus, of Olivia, Minnesota, died at the age of 91 on Saturday, 07 February 1998, at the Olivia Healthcare Center, Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. He had been a resident of the Healthcare Center for the five years prior to his death. Ed was survived by his daughter; son-in-law; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Stella; four brothers, Adolph, Joseph, Frank, and Theodore; three sisters, Catherine Tersteeg, Lucy Dolezol, and Mary Malecek; and, several siblings in infancy. Edward’s funeral service was held on Tuesday, 01 February 1998, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island with Father Schotzko officiating. Burial was at 4:00 p.m. in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery near Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota.
