Ray B. Kowalski, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Kowalski of Ash-ton, was instantly killed Tuesdav afternoon of last week when an oil tank he was welding exploded at Greeley. The accident occurred at one o'clock. Mr. Kowalski was repairing a tank used to haul road oil. It is believed that oil vapors from a nearby tank be­came ignited from the heat of the welding torch. The truck on which the tank was mounted was parked in the doorway of the re­pair shop. The blast blew the end of the tank through the door way, striking Mr. Kowalski in the head. The body was thrown about 15 feet by the force of the explosion. Mr. Kowalski was born Febr. 29, 1904 at St. Libory. He was about 10 years old when the fam­ily moved to Ashton. He attend ed schools at St. Libory and Ashton. Later he lived for a short time near Spalding and Primrose. He was married to Miss Mar­garet Czarnik Sept. 6, 1937 at Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island for a short time before moving to Greeley, where they have since resided. Surviving Mr. Kowalski are his widow and three children, Julia Ann, 7, Lavern Robert, 3, and Margaret Ruth, 10 months. Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Kowalski of Ashton and five brothers and six sisters, Mrs. Daniel Krance, St Edward, Mrs. Michael Valosek of Palmer, Gregory Kowalski of St Paul, Mrs. Stanley Molczyk of St Libory, Mrs. Edward Yocum of Grand Island, Walter and Mary Kowalski of Ashton, Mrs. Joe Szatka of Greeley, Tony Kowalski and Harry Kowalski of Ashton, and Joseph Kowalski of Genoa. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church at Greeley, Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. -Greeley Citizen.
