Son of Gregory & Josephine (Shuda) Kowalski, Married to Stella Anna Zywiec on 3-5-1946 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church located in the Krakow area of Nance County, NE. WW II Veteran COLUMBUS - Joseph G. Kowalski, 69, of 2904 6th St., Columbus, died Thursday, March 1, 1990; at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Church in Columbus with the Rev. Laurin Buzynski officiating. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by Hartman - Post 84, American Legion. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. There will be a 7:30 p.m. rosary Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Kowalski was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Ashton, the son of Gregory and Josie (Suda) Kowalski. He married Stella Zywiec March '5, 1946, in Krakow Church, rural Genoa. Mr. Kowalski lived all his married life in Columbus and was a welder and machinist for Behlen Mfg. and Sokol Irrigation until illness forced early retirement. Mr. Kowalski served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a private first class in the Armored Corps, serving from Sept. 2; 1942, to Oct. 24, 1945. He was a member of St. - Anthony Church. Surviving are his wife; four sons, James of Ft. Hood, Texas, Donald of Lincoln, Jerry and Michael, both of Columbus; four daughters, Rosann Rolhoff of Pierce, Darlene Meyer of Kent, Wash., Christine Muray of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mary Jo Augustine of South 'Sioux City; 19 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; two brothers: Walter and Tony;both'of Palmer two sisters, Dorothy Molczyk of Grand lsland and Marie Grabowski of Aurora. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roman, Harry and Gregory; four sisters, Katie Krance, Anna Valsek, Gertrude Szatko and Helen Yocum.
