Bio

Millena Amalie “Mildred” Serbus was born on 29 October 1914 in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Mary Ann Kubesh and Henry Peter Serbus. Mildred was one of eleven children. She attended local grade school and St. Margaret’s School in Minneapolis. She lived in Minneapolis for 20 years prior to her death. Mildred married Raymond Willaert in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, on 03 October 1953. Mildred and Raymond had one son, Gary, who was only one year old when his mother died. Mildred Amalie Serbus Willaert died at the General Hospital in Minneapolis on Saturday, 14 April 1956, from complications following surgery. Mildred was survived by her husband, Raymond; son, Gary; seven sisters, Beatrice (William) Brown, Angela (Obort) Lillesve, Elizabeth (Herle) Jybstrup, Helen (Robert) Mogren, Harriet Serbus, Dorothy (Steve) Hudak, and Marie (Donald) Bergstrom; and, two brothers, Anton and Peter. Her brother, Henry, preceded her in death. The funeral service for Mildred was held on Tuesday, 17 April 1956, at 9:00 a.m. in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. Reverend Stanley Skluzacek officiated at the service. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Harold Ziesmer, Edward F. Kubesh, Kenneth Ziesmer, Dennis Serbus, Richard Serbus, and Donald Serbus.
