Bio
Mary Ann Kubesh was born on 15 August 1875 to John and Josephine Moravcova Kubesh. On 24 November 1896, Mary Ann married Henry Peter Serbus, the son of Jan and Rosile Brtek Serbus, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn, Minnesota. Mary Ann and Henry Peter had eleven children, Henry A., Anthony G., Beatrice V., Angela C., Peter R., Elizabeth M., Helen R., Harriet J., Mildred C., Marie M., and Dorothy V. Serbus. Mary Ann and Henry Peter were successful farmers in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. They worked on Henry’s parent's (Jan and Rosa Serbus) farm and after Henry’s father died in 1897, they took charge of the farm. They stayed on the farm until 1899 when they bought 160 acres of land in the Northeast Quarter, Section 26, of Henryville Township. Mary and Henry developed this farm and erected a fine monolithic concrete silo; and a good barn, chicken house, and hog house. They raised and registered large Yorkshire hogs and fed one car each of cattle and hogs for the market every year. They semi-retired and moved to Olivia, Minnesota, in 1956. Mary Ann Kubesh Serbus died on 20 March 1960 in Renville County, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband; Henry Peter, and her son, Henry A. Serbus. Mary Ann was buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota.
