Fort Bend Herald, Monday, August 11, 2008: Funeral mass for Edna Judith Janik, 89, of Richmond will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Chapel, Richmond, TX. Friends may call between 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg TX. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the Garmany & Carden Chapel, Rosenberg, TX. Edna Janik was born on November 1, 1918, in Weimar, TX, to Edward Janecka and Sophie Anders Janecka. Mrs. Janik passed away peacefully on August 9, 2008, at Triumph Hospital, Sugar Land, TX. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Margaret Mary Altar Society and SPJST. She is survived by three children, two daughters, Margie Hollier and her husband Charles Hollier, and Glenda Tracy; one son, Ervin Lee Straznicky, and wife, Catherine, and one brother Joe Janecka. There are seven grandchildren: Leigh-Anne Straznicky, Patti Stockdale, Adam Straznicky, Allison Tracy, James F. Tracy III, Charles Hollier III, and Scott Hollier; five great grandsons: Chris Hollier, Jacob, Logan and Wyatt Hollier and Declan Stockdale. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bennie Straznicky and her second husband, Robert Janik, by brother, Rudolph Janecka, and by two sisters, Frances Richter and Lillie Sbrusch. As a child, Edna grew up on the farm. She spent many long, hot days picking cotton by hand. Czech was her first language and she later learned English. If one were to ask Edna about herself, she would say that "she was just plain vanilla." She was always committed to her family throughout her life. Aside from being a homemaker, Edna was manager of the furniture department at RB's for many years. She also worked at Weiner's Dept. Store. In her free time, she loved talking with family and friends on the telephone. She also loved to play Bingo. Pallbearers will be James F. Tracy Jr., James F. Tracy III, Adam Straznicky, Delbert Gajevsky, Bennie Richter Jr. and Andy Kuba.
