Bio

Aunt Bit and Uncle Jimmy met in Marietta, Georgia, when they were introduced by a cousin. They decided to elope to Alabama (Bit was 16) because they knew they could get a blood test and marry the same day. They lived in Atlanta all their lives, except during Jimmy's military service (Colorado and Idaho, 1943-1945) Bit was an air raid warden during one of the postings. The off-base housing in Idaho was less than desirable and when Bit found out that working on the base would make them eligible for military housing, she quickly found a job there. Aunt Bit generously shared bits of family history that helped me compile a family tree for her parents (my grandparents). She had no children of her own, but showed much love and kindness toward her multiple nieces and nephews.
