Bio

Fort Bend Mirror, January 15 1975: Funeral services for Joseph Anton Slovak, 93, of Rosenberg, father of Mrs. A.G. (Geraldine) Starr of Sugar Land, were conducted at 10 a.m. last Thursday in the Rosenberg Chapel of Garmany & Co. Funeral Directors. Msgr. James Madden officiated at the services. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Rosenberg. Mr. Slovak, a long-time merchant in Rosenberg, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Autumn Hills Convalescent Center, Richmond. He owned "Slovak's" in downtown Rosenberg. Other survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jo Ethel) Lawrence of Kingsville; two grandchildren; six sisters; two brothers; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
