Bio

Herald Coaster, May 6, 1969: Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Slovak, 84, of 1112 Sixth St., Rosenberg, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 4, in the Garmany & Company Funeral Home Chapel in Rosenberg, with Allen H. Duffy, minister of the First Christian Church of Rosenberg, officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Slovak died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, May 3, in Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital in Richmond. She was a native of Troy and had been a resident of Fort Bend County for more than 50 years. Survivors include her husband, J.A. Slovak; two daughters, Mrs. R.D. Lawrence Sr. of Kingsville and Mrs. A.G. Starr of Sugar Land; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers were V.L. Howard, Mike Moreno, Hugo Requardt, Sid Ward, Rudy Novosad, and R.J. (Bob) Davis. Funeral services were under the direction of Garmany & Co. Funeral Directors.
