Ernest Emil Kapavik, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday November 15, 2006. He was born Tuesday November 22, 1927 in Axtell, Texas to Frank Joe and Emilie Foitek Kapavik. Ernest married Ruby Marie Pavilca on June 26, 1950 at St. James Catholic Church. He was a member and 3rd degree Knight of the Fr. Roebucks Knights of Columbus Council 5090 in Gonzales; he was a member of the KJZT fraternal organization and an honorary member of the Future Farmers of America. Mr. Kapavik has farmed and ranched in the Gonzales area for over 55 years and he was a partner in the Ehrig and Kapavik Farm Services in Gonzales and later owned and operated Kapavik Sand and Gravel in Gonzales. Ernest Kapavik loved to work on his ranch, he loved helping people with his businesses and rent properties. His first love was his family, his greatest joy was the soulful peace he felt when all his family was together because he so deeply loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Marie Kapavik, daughters and son-in-laws, Anita Ann Dement, Josie and Bobby Tomas, Kathy Marie and Leonard Frederick, Betty Jean and Jimmy Fehner all of Gonzales, Ernestine and Kevin Sutherlin of Kerrville, Lori Ann and John Strobel of Wimberley, and Carrie Jean and Jay Tinsley of Gonzales, sons and daughters-in-law, David Ray and Tricia Kapavik of Shiner, Ernest Fred "Freddie" Kapavik of Gonzales and Larry Joe and Robin Kapavik of New Braunfels, sisters, Georgia Kramer of Waco and Josie Hutyra of West, twenty-two grandchildren, Andria and her husband Alvin, Eric and his wife Casie, Amy Jo and her husband Reid, Bridgette, Jason, Chad & wife Amanda, Blaine, Brandon and his wife Stephanie, Bradley, Christen, Kaitlin, Ryan, Derek, Hope, Megan, Lauren, Tyler, Morgan, Joseph Grey, Phillip Ernest, Ty, and Luke and 4 great-grandchildren, Addison, Aiden, Logan, and Grace. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Mary Theresa and Michelle Ruby, brothers, Henry and Frankie Kapavik, and a sister Helen Sulak. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Fr. Greg Nevlud and a Holy Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales with Fr. Paul Raaz as celebrant. Pallbearers: Ronnie Kramer, Terry Pavlica, Frankie Kapavik, Henry Kapavik, Jr., Jerry Girard, Doug Pagel, Ernest Fred "Bubba" Ehrig, Jr., and David Ehrig. Honorary pallbearers, Dr. Terry Eska, Doctors and Staff of the Heart Hospital of Austin, and all his business friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
