Josie Hutyra, age 82, of West, passed away late Friday morning, October 19, 2018 at her residence. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Josie was born November 4, 1935 in West, the daughter of Frank and Emilie (Foitek) Kapavik. She attended Alligator School and St. Mary's School. On November 7, 1953 she was united in marriage to Freddie Hutyra in West. Freddie preceded her in death on July 25, 2017. Josie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She worked for Waco Independent School District for 18 years before retiring in 1992. Josie enjoyed traveling and shopping, gathering with her many friends at the bakery in West and for hamburger day in Bellmead. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Josie was also a member of KJZT St. Ludmila Society #11. Josie is also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ernest Kapavik, Henry Kapavik and Frankie Kapavik; her sister, Helen Sulak; and a son-in-law, Jerry Girard. Survivors include daughters, Sara Girard of Abbott, Diane Bekkelund and husband Bobbie of Clifton; sister, Georgia Kramer; grandchildren, Joni Girard, Amanda Nielsen and husband Brandon, Brian Girard and wife Anne, Becky McAdams, Amelia Hegefeld and husband Cole; great-grandchildren, Madysen, Finley, Bentlee, Wyatt and Connor; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Brian Girard, Brandon Nielsen, Ronnie Kramer, Johnny Ray Hutyra, Michael Hutyra, Freddie Kapavik, Frankie Kapavik, and Patrick Sulak. Aderhold Funeral Home, Online obituary
