Bio

O. De Roos, Aged Resident Of Hull, Died Last Friday Mr. O. De Roos, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of this community, passed away at the Hull Hospital, last Friday afternoon from the infirmities of old age. He was nearly eighty two years old. The funeral was held from the First Reformed church, Monday, with Rev. Douwstra and Rev. Jager officiating, and interment was made in the family lot in Hope Cemetery. The pall bearers were the consistory of the First Reformed church, Messrs. F. Gunnink, John Zoet, L. R. Kooiker, J.W. Vermeer, Bert Ver Steeg and D.J. Wesselink. Mr. De Roos had been an Elder in the church and its Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Obituary Oepke De Roos was born in Friesland, The Netherlands, on January 14, 1853. He came to this country as a young man in 1871, and was married to Miss Tryntje Vander Stoep at Orange City in 1879. To this union eleven children were born,. one dying in infancy. Mrs. De Roos passed away May 17, 1926. The surviving children are: Fannie, Mrs. Isaac Claerbout of Cedar Grove, Wisconsin; Johanna, Mrs. Case Ver Hoef, of Sheldon. Iowa; Agnes, Mrs. Peter Dethmers of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mary. Mrs. K. Vande Vegte of Rock Valley, Iowa; John of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Andrew of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Josie, Mrs. Bert Vander Schaaf; Frank and Mina, Mrs. H. W. Huibregtse, all of Hull; and Harrietta, Mrs. Dick Vogel of Bigelow, Minnesota. There are also fourty grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. T. Feekes, Mrs. Jouke Mulder and Mrs. Y.R. Mulder, all of Sioux Center, also survive. The Index joins in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives. Sioux County Index 1934-11-30.
