Bio

Harriet Vogel, age 98, of Bemidji, MN died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji. Interment will be in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, Pony Lake, Liberty Township, MN later this spring. Memorials given to the family will be donated to the Albanian Ministry Center. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Harriet DeRoos was born January 2, 1907 in Hull, IA to Oopke and Tryntje (Vander Stoep) DeRoos. She grew up in Hull and attended public school there. She continued to live there until her marriage to Dick Vogel on June 12, 1928 in Hull. Following their marriage they lived in Bigelow, MN. In 1937 they returned to Hull, IA. In 1942 they moved to Sioux City, IA. Shortly after that, they moved to Tenstrike, MN and then to Bemidji in 1950. Harriet worked as a Red Cross volunteer "Grey Lady" for many years. She was a church organist and pianist for many years as well. She was also active in women's groups at Chapel in the Pines, Bemidji. Music was a large part of her life. She was a pianist at Chapel in the Pines and Goldpine Home where she has lived since 1998. Harriet is survived by her sons: Richard (Jeannine) Vogel, Yankton, SD, David (Joyce) Vogel, Bemidji, Kenneth (Jintana) Vogel, Yuma, AZ, Harold (Laureen) Vogel, Becker, MN; daughters: Gladys Nicol, Bemidji, and Marilyn Vogel, Chicago, IL; 18 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, six sisters, and two great grandchildren. Olson - Schwartz Funeral Home.
