Born in the village of Ujezd, town of Hrotovice, county of Znojmo, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). ''''''''''' Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), April 16, 1925, p. 5, col. 4 ANTON KUCERA Anton Kucera was born in Moravia on March 1, 1858. He came to America at the age of 20, coming directly to Nebraska where he worked as a farm hand until was married on January 15, 1884 to Miss Josephine Svoboda, since which time they have resided continuously on their farm 4½ miles northeast of Brainard. Deceased is survived by his wife and nine children: Mrs. Jacob V. Sloup, Anton and Ludvik Kucera of Osnobrock, N. D.; Frank J. Kucera of Omaha, Mrs. Mary Weverka, Joseph Kucera and Sister M. Rita of Brainard and John and Anna, who live at home with their mother He also leaves four brothers, Frank, Vincent and John Kucera of David City, and Mike Kucera of near Bruno; two sisters; Mrs. Mary Divis, of near Loma, and Mrs. John Culek of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and his step-mother, Mrs. Anna Kucera, also of David City. Mr. Kucera was a member of the Western Bohemian Catholic Union (Z. C K. J.) and the Catholic Workmen (K. D.) since their organization in 1886 and 1896 respectively. For several months he had suffered with carcinoma of signiod with chronic obstruction and his last month was spent in the St. Joseph's hospital at Omaha, where he passed away on Thursday morning, April 9th, the cause of his death being septic peritonitis. Funeral services were held in the Holy Trinity Catholic church, in Brainard, conducted by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Klein, on Saturday morning at 10:30, and burial was in the Brainard Catholic cemetery Members of the K. D. and Z. C. K. J. societies were pallbearers.
