Provided by Cynthia Duris Hirst (#48592204): Mathias Kúzúra (Kucera) was born in House #9, Aujezd Village, Běhařovice Parish, Třebíč Region, South Moravia, Austrian Empire (2016 Location: Újezd Village and Municipality, Znojmo District, Jihomoravský County, Czech Republic). He is the son of Jakub Kúzúra (1809-1871) and Viktoria Koždas (1804-1848). He married Anna Maria Maar (Mahr)(1834-1867) on 24 Nov 1863 in Aujezd Village. After his wife's death, he married Anna Steyskal (1848-1935) on 18 Feb 1868 in Aujezd Village. On 31 Jul 1878, the family departed Hamburg, Germany, on the ship SS Gellert and arrived in the Port of New York on 13 Aug 1878,settling in Butler County, Nebraska, USA. '''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), February 11, 1915, p. 1, col. 2 Was in Eighty-Third Year Mike Kucera, who died at his home in David City on Monday morning, Feb. 1, at 8 o'clock, was nearly 83 years of age and had been a resident of Butler county nearly 40 years. He was born in Moravia February 24, 1832 and came to the United States in 1872, coming direct to Nebraska and Butler county. He served in the army in the old country. He was a farmer in Butler county for a number of years. For a few years past he had been a resident of David City. His last illness was two years in duration. Mr. Kucera is survived by Mrs. Kucera and five sons and two daughters. They are Anton, residing in Bruno, Mrs. Mary Divis, living at Loma, Frank, Vincent, Mrs. Anna Culek and John, residing in David City, and Mike, living at Bruno. A brother, Joseph Kucera, lives near Loma, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Rak, is living in Moravia. Mr. Kucera is survived also by 48 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. There was large attendance of sympathizing friends at the funeral services, held in St. Mary's Catholic church, David City, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4. The services were by the pastor, Rev. G. Boll. The pallbearers were J. J. Homolka, Frank Rolenc, Anton and John Styskal and Martin and Frank Vanek. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery. Statement made in last week's Press that Mr. Kucera was a member of the Z. C. B. J. lodge and carried $1000 insurance in the Z. C. B. J. order was incorrect.
