Bio

Maria Anna Kucera was born 10 Dec 1884 on the Kucera family farm in Skull Creek Township, Butler County, Nebraska, USA, about 4-1/2 miles northeast of Brainard Village. She was the first of eleven children born to Antonin and Josefa (Svoboda) Kucera. On 04 Nov 1902 she married Ludvik Veverka at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Brainard Village, Oak Creek Township, Butler County, Nebraska, USA. Ludvik grew up on the farm directly across the road from the Kucera family and Maria Ann moved into the Ververka farm home after their marriage. Ludvik and Maria Anna had nine children: Julia Ludmilla born 12 May 1903; Agnes Marie born 26 Jan 1905; Adolph Alois born 26 Apr 1907; twins Hedvika E (Hattie) and Helen Antoinette born 19 Oct 1909; Henry Joseph born 15 Nov 1911; Georgia Roslyn born 26 Jun 1914; Martha Loretta born 11 Apr 1916; and Henrietta Marie born 14 Apr 1923. When her husband passed away in 1924, Maria Anna continued to live on the Veverka farm with her children and managed the farm until her son, Henry, was old enough to take over.
