Zulkoski was born January 19, 1894 at Tarnov, Nebraska to Joseph and Josephine Augustyn Kusek and died March 5, 1982 at the Valley County Hospital in Ord, Nebraska at the age of 88. She grew up in Fullerton, Nebraska and in 1905, at the age of 11, she moved with her family to Elyria where she attended school. Verna was united in marriage to John Bolish Zulkoski June 21, 1911, at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Elyria. They made their home west of Elyria in Eureka Township and belonged to the Boleszyn Church until 1945 when they moved to Elyria. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church Altar Society and the Jolly Homemakers Extension club. Survivors include her husband, John of Ord; five sons, Ray and Bennie of Columbus, Enus and Rollie of Elyria, Edmund of Ord; four daughters, Mrs. John (Bernice)Bertholf of San Leandro, CA, Mrs. Larry (Lorraine) Pfeifer of Perris, CA, Matilda (Pat) Konkoleski of Ord, Mrs. Eugene (Marie) Novotny of Comstock; 38 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; one step sister, Mrs. Catherine Harrahil of Omaha; and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Iwanski of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and four sisters. Funeral services were held Monday, March 8, 1982 at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with burial in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. The Ord Quiz - Thur, Mar 11 1982, Pg 8, Col 1
