Marie Novotny, 80 Dec 17, 2005 ORD — Marie Cecelia Novotny, 80, of Ord died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a rosary at 7. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Novotny was born July 5, 1925, on the family farm southwest of Elyria to John Bolish and Veronica (Kusek) Zulkoski. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Gene Novotny of Ord; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and John Miller of Murdock; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Kay Novotny of Comstock, John and Nila Novotny of Columbus, Joe and Elaine Novotny of Elyria and Tom and Marty Novotny of Lincoln; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rolland and Dorothy Zulkoski of Elyria and Edmund and Dixie Zulkoski of Ord; three sisters, Berniece Bertholf of California, Lorraine Pfeifer of Omaha and Matilda "Pat" Konkoleski of Ord; and a sister-in-law, Matilda Zulkoski of Elyria. Additional survivors include grandchildren, Pat and John's children, Angela and her husband, Derek DeWerff, and their three children, Alexander, Annabelle and Darius, of Wichita, Kan., Nathan Miller of Omaha, Stacia Miller of Minnesota and Nick Miller of Lincoln; Jim and Kay's children, Bob and Lara, of Kansas City, Kara Novotny of Lincoln and Laura Novotny of Comstock; John and Nila's children, Ashley and Tyson Novotny of Lincoln and Giana Novotny of Columbus; Joe and Elaine's children, Brent Novotny and Kendra Novotny, both of Elyria; and Tom and Marty's children, Rachel Novotny and Sara Novotny, both of Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was raised in Valley County near Elyria and attended District 32 country school and graduated from Ord High School in 1943. On Nov. 4, 1947, she married Eugene Novotny at St. Mary's Church at Elyria. The couple lived on a farm near Comstock until 1993. At that time, they moved into Ord. Marie loved her family very much and always was there helping out and volunteering whenever and wherever she could and always with a smile. She was known for her delicious baking, her sewing, and all the various crafts she so lovingly created. She was active in St. Wenceslaus and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Altar Societies, the Ord Senior Center, TOPS and various volunteer groups. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Raymond, Enos and Bennie Zulkoski; two sisters-in-law, Julia Zulkoski and Eva Zulkoski; and three brothers-in-law, Art Bertholf, Larry Pfeifer and Floyd Konkoleski.
