Matilda L. "Pat" Konkoleski, 89, of Ord passed away unexpectedly at her home in Ord on Sunday, February 3, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Fathers Tom Ryan and Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Matilda Louise "Pat" was born May 12, 1923, to John B. and Veronica (Kusek) Zulkoski on the family farm west of Elyria. She received her education at District #32 country school in the Eureka Township and graduated from Ord High School in 1941. After high school Pat joined two of her sisters in Omaha and went to work at the Bemis Company. On January 30, 1945, Pat was united in marriage to Floyd J. Konkoleski at Elyria, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm west of Ord until 1955, when they moved to a farm northeast of Ord. They farmed until Floyd's life was taken by an auto accident and he passed away on February 7, 1975. Pat moved into Ord and began working at the J.M. McDonald Store which later became, Moyer's Department Store. She worked at the clothing store for 18 years. Pat was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Altar Society, Lodge #437, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and several card clubs. She also belonged to the Plain Valley Extension Club and spent many hours on the Make Christmas Happen Project. Pat volunteered at Bloodmobile and with Bingo at the nursing home. Along with Agnes Janda they baked kolaches once a month at Grandview. Her hobbies included crafts, cross word puzzles, traveling, playing cards, yard work and flowers. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and sewing. She will be remembered for her kolaches and birthday cakes for the grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and John Belschner of Lincoln and Linda and Tom Osborn of Sargent; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Rolland Dorothy Zulkoski of Elyria, Edmund and Dixie Zulkoski of Ord, and Matilda (Mrs. Enus) Zulkoski of Elyria; one sister, Lorraine Pfiefer of Omaha and a brother-in-law, Gene Novotny, of Ord. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; a son, Gerald "Gary" Konkoleski; three brothers, Enus, Raymond and Bennie Zulkoski and two sisters, Marie Novotny and Bernice Bertholf.
