Born in the village of Slavetice, town of Hrotovice, county of Znojmo, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). ''''''''''' Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), March 18, 1920, p. 1, col. 2 JOHN MAZANEC Mr. John Mazanec, one of the early settlers of this vicinity, died at his home in south Brainard last Friday following a very short illness, at the age of 64 years. Mr. Mazanec was born in Moravia, December 17, 1855 and with his parents came to this country and settled on a farm near Brainard where he lived until about seven months ago when he retired from the farm and with his family took up his abode in town. He was married to Miss Katerina Pohl in the year of '83. He is survived by a wife and seven children, four sons, Edward of Merrick county, Adolf of near Brainard, Louis of near Garrison and Fred who resides at home and three daughters, Mrs. Emma Matousek of Holt county, Mrs. Agnes Matousek of near Rising City and Mary who resides at home, all of whom were present at the funeral. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Holy Trinity church, interment was in the Brainard cemetery. ________ CARD OF THANKS It is heartfelt thanks that we express to our many friends and neighbors who so willingly and patiently assisted us during our hours of grief and the bereavement of our beloved husband and father.
