Born in the village of Slavetice, town of Hrotovice, county of Znojmo, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Married Karolina Koza (marriage license dated January 2, 1878, Butler County, Nebr.). According to his probate file he died March 23, 1913 (contradicting the date on his marker) and was survived by his widow Karolina (age 56 years) and four children Frank A. Mazanec (28 years), Mary Coufal (32 years), Victoria Sajtl (30 years), and Anna Fleming (29 years), all of Bruno (Butler County probate file #743). He was 61 years of age. He is survived by his wife, one son and three daughters. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Zalud in St. Anthony's church here on March 26. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved.
