Fred W. Mazanec CALDWELL — Fred William Mazanec, 74, of Caldwell Route 1, died Thursday morning in a Nampa hospital. He was born March 5, 1897, in Brainard, Neb., a son of John and Katherine Phool Mazanec, and he was reared at Brainard. He married Rose Kobza on Sept. 18, 1920, in Goodland, Kan., and they located at Kolby, Kan. The couple came to Idaho in 1937 and located in Middleton. He did construction work and later was maintenance employee for the city of Middleton from 1955 to 1960. He contracted to deliver mail from the Caldwell post office to the Middleton Post Office from 1952 to 1969, when he retired. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Mazanec are four sons, Francis of Fort Myers, Fla., Leonard of Nampa, Warren of Springfield, S.D., and Donald Mazanec of Ontario, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Olga Eldore of Spokane, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bohuslavsk of Odell, Neb., Mrs. Anges Matousek of Shelby, Neb., and Mrs. Emma Matousek of Atkinson, Neb.; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death a daughter and three brothers. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church by the Rev. Ramon V. Echevarria, pastor. Interment will be at the Middleton Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel. Idaho Free Press & Caldwell News-Tribune, Saturday, November 20, 1971 — 2
