Bio

McCASHLAND, FLOY—Floy Huston McCashland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Huston, was born in the Shickley, Neb. community August 8, 1881. She passed from this life in the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, November 4, 1972, at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 27 days. She had been in failing health for several years. February 10, 1904, she was united in marriage with Clyde Cass McCashland. She was received on profession of faith into the membership of the former Methodist Episcopal church in Geneva, which subsequently became the First Methodist and the United Methodist. She was a member for over 53 years. For many years she was very active in the program of the church, having served as president of the Woman’s Society for several years. She was a past noble grand of Rebecca Lodge no. 14, active in the Degree of Honor lodge and a charter member of the original Jolly Neighbors. In her later years after her health failed, she lived many years at Roselawn Home in Geneva, operated by Mrs. Irene Bobbitt. She later became a resident of Heritage of Geneva Home for the Aged in Geneva, where she resided at the time of her final illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, one sister, two daughters, Zada Merle and Marie’ a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by her three daughters, Mrs. Lamar (Ruby) Robinson of Beatrice, Neb.; Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Fogelman of Lincoln, Neb., and Mrs. Stanley (Jeanne) Pitera of Seattle, Wash., as well as four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Hubert (Ada) Price of Cozad, Neb. Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Tuesday, November 7, at the Farmer-Harris funeral home in Geneva with Rev. John Stayton of Geneva officiating. Music was by Mrs. Norval Lomax, organist. Pallbearers were Hugh Hadsell, Ben D. Fussell, Eric Waltemade, Harry Helton, Orval Ellison and Howard Hamilton. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 9 November 9th, 1972 page 5.
