GOLDEN WEDDING CELEBRATED AT BRUNO The bells of St Antony's church seemed to ring forth golden melodies on Wednesday morning, April 24, for that was the day on which Mr. and Mrs. James Pohl, of Bruno, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. The High Mass at ten o'clock was preceded by the renewal of the marriage vows and the blessing of the happy couple who apparently were reliving in all its details the day when first they pledged their fidelity to each other at God's altar. The choir rendered the beautiful Mass of the Angels, Mrs. Smaus presiding as organist. As Mr. and Mrs. Pohl advanced down the aisle prior to the ceremony, one had to notice the fine taste displayed in their anniversary attire. The golden bride was dressed in a well-fitting black ensemble adorned with a becoming white collar. Her gray coat which completed her dress was a gift of her children. Mrs. Genevieve Hinesh and Mr. James Pohl. She also wore a corsage of golden roses. The groom looked distinguished in his black suit with a boutonniere of golden roses. The happy couple was feted at a dinner after the services. The table was decorated for the occasion. Particularly worthy of mention was the wedding cake, four tiered and ornamented with 13 pairs of white doves, perhaps a symbol of the peace these Christian parents have enjoyed during their 50 years of married life. A striking centerpiece, an Easter Lamb of cake, added to the already charming dinner table with bouquets of tulips on each side. The immediate relatives attending the dinner were three daughters, Sister Gerard of Prague, Sr. Majella of Brainard and Sr. Julian of Cedar Rapids, lowa, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Pohl and their children: Raymond, Daniel and Dorothy of David City. Mr. James Pohl, Mr. And Mrs. Ed. Pohl and their children, Jim and Eugene of Grand Island, Mr. and Mrs. John Pohl with their children, Kenneth and Dennis of Bruno, Lieutenant and Mrs. Edwin Hinesh and son Edwin of Baltimore, Maryland. Rev. Father Chas, Rada, Mrs. Frances Stava and daughter Agnes, Miss Vilma Dolista from Bruno, Mrs. Joseph Hinesh of Grand Island, Mrs. John Bryn of David City. Mrs. Mary Schmidt and Stayce, Mr. and Mrs. John Coufal, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Rhodes of Trumbull, Miss Klemie Proskovec, Mrs. Mary Pelan, Mrs. Catherine Stuchlik and Miss Lilian Ptacek. The later four assisted with the serving. The golden jubilarians received many beautiful and useful gifts. Among them were 50 Holy Masses from the children and golden rosary presented by the grand children of the couple. Greeting cards were abundant. During the celebration a telegram from Monsignor Kopecky of Lawrence, Nebraska, brought further congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Pohl. À wedding dance closed the beautiful day which will bring many golden memories to all concerned, especially to the happy couple themselves.
