Bio
John Petru was born May 8, 1818 in house #19 in Krncice, Moravia, being the son of Mathaus Petr and Leonora Polajek. On November 8, 1842, he was united in marriage to Mary Bender (born in 1817 and died 18 JUL 1865 in Krncice daughter of Martin Benda and Maria Novacek)To this union, 3 children were born: Mary, a son who died in infancy and Therezie. On April 2, 1874, he came to America with his daughter Mary and her family, settling in Butler County, Nebraska. It was here that met Maria Tichy who was the widow of Jan (John) Urbanek. They married July 2, 1875 in Linwood, Nebraska. Together, they had one child, Mary Frances Petru who married Vaclav Pohl. Notes: He was not 87 when he died, he was 91. See birth record in photos.
